Fuzz Thursday and Psymmetry Collective present: Manny Fest #001

November 10 @ 1:00 pm - 11:00 pm

£6.00

FuFruit Art Collective, Gardenback, The Slumdogs, Chupa Cabra, The 99 Degree, Shallow Waters, Saint Ivy and Della Noirs at the Peer Hat on the 10th of November 2018.

Cannibal Animal our headliners for the all-day event are a 4 piece garage rock/ post punk band from Hull. The band have released two extended plays since their inception ‘Human Manuals’ in 2016 and A Decline In Morality in 2018. Cannibal Animals sound is dark, aggressive and intense they combine reverb soaked surf guitars with distorted basslines and hard hitting drums. Their lyrics touch on themes of anxiety and depression and the boring routine of the 9-5. The band say they “like to make their listeners feel uncomfortable, like the few seconds before being sick.” Their sound is reminsant of Idles, The Wytches, Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster and Eagulls, but they still carry a great amount of authenticity to their sound. These guys are defiantly one of our favorite bands in the UK at the moment and we cannot wait to see them.

Wild Fruit Art Collective bring one of their mesmerizing and chaotic live show to the Peer Hat which is not to be missed. They formed In Liverpool and consist of Jamie Robers (lead vocals, guitar), Ben Cowie (bass, backing vocals), Conor Jones (lead guitar), Jake Jones (drums). The band have toured relentlessly across the UK playing anywhere and everywhere, by building their fan base the hard way the band have more recently played shows with artists such as The Wytches, Goat Girl, Madonnatron and Taman Shud. Their sound is compelling and reminds us a little bit of Sonic Youth, you don’t want to stop listening to it because you want to find out what is going to happen next. Some bands are bland and boring these words two will never be used to describe Wild Art Fruit Collective.

Gardenback are a fantastic band who we’re pleased to welcome to our all-day event. The band formed all the way back in 2011 when the three members were all school friends. Gardenback have been making waves at the moment on the Manchester music scene, they have recently supported some esteemed artists such as the Psychedelic Porn Crumpets and the DZ Deathrays. The band have been described as the missing link between the Stone Roses and The Fall. Their rhythm section and guitar playing gels so well together, they would give the Talking Heads and The Stooges a run for their money. Gardenback’s songwriting is another strong point of theirs, they know how to write an indie rock anthem.

The Slumdog’s bring one of their explosive sets to The Peer Hat and we can’t bloody wait. The band’s sound is raw and intense, the Slumdogs paint the picture of modern British life and its dark tendencies through poetic lyrics and a gritty punk accompaniment. Their live shows are great they’re high octane, they play like it’s the last gig they will ever play. The Slumdogs release their fast bursts of energy from the off, the vocals are sang so fast singer Bobby Glaister pretty much raps. The bands lyrics main lyrical theme involve social realism, but they pull it off without been too political. The band have played shows all around the UK even playing at the 02 Ritz. These guys are going places and are going to be huge.

Chupa Cabra a garage punk three-piece from North Wales signed to Trashmouth Records. The band released their self-titled split album this year with No Friendz. This album is fantastic from start to front, the record features harsh vocals, crashing guitars and head bobbing basslines. Chupa Cabra are out and out punk, their rawness reminds us of how Parquet Courts use to sound. This band are defiantly going to be a Like the other artists playing the all-dayer Chupa Cabra mastered their craft by playing live, most notably with the Gang of Four in Llangollen. Chupa Cabra stick their middle finger up to the establishment, they scream their frustrations and burning anger.

The 99 Degree join us in the white and blue stripy shirts as they bring their spaghetti western inspired sound to the Peer Hat. From the North wild West of Manchester the 99 Degree are the missing link from Quinten Tarantino’s legendry soundtracks, we think they will get the call very soon. The band have been together a while now and released their debut E.P last year entitled Boot Hill Surf Club which is great. They have played with some fantastic bands since their inception including The Schizophonics and fellow Mancunians Liines. The band remind us of a cross over between the Gun Club and Link Wray. Frontman Joe Sartini’s stage presence is imposing similarly to Captain Beefheart.

Shallow Waters are a Wigan based stoner-desert-grunge trio. The band include social realism and political content within their lyrics. They provide a psychedelic ambiences within their music by using loop pedals, crunching guitars and high-end guitar solos. The band remind us of Sheffield’s Baba Naga mixed with early Kasabian and Fu Manchu. Shallow Waters will wish to transport their audience to another dystopia with their psychedelic, desert, stoner, fuzz, grunge. They have released many singles which we can’t stop listening to. We loved their set so much at The Schizophonics we decided to bring them back for round 2.

Saint Ivy are one of our new favorite bands who we can’t stop listening too. Their song ‘Dawned’ is an absolute anthem we can wait to hear more from this Stoke four piece in the future. The band’s sound is reminiscent of early Ride and Slowdive in their shoegaze heyday. The band have only played a handful of shows, but we predict a big future for this Stoke band. They have received support from BBC Introducing in Stoke. Saint Ivy have just been announced as one of the supporting artists for The Blinders in Stoke.

Della Noris are another of our favorite new bands at the moment. This Wigan four piece released their debut single ‘Tiptoe’ this year. The band have been supported by BBC introducing gaining multiple plays on their single. The band’s sound is very grungy they sound like a cross between Oasis and Drenge. These lads write very big songs with big chorus which just make you want to sing along.
